How do I find out the status of a specific PVP cultivar?
There are two ways to find this answer. Either you can do a simple query on
the Accession Area Queries page, or you could go to the PVP query page. For
example, suppose you are looking for the alfalfa cultivar Arrest to see its PVP
status. Using the Accession Queries page, to find Arrest:
- Begin at the NPGS page: http://www.ars-grin.gov/npgs/
- Click on Search GRIN to take you to:
http://www.ars-grin.gov/npgs/searchgrin.html
- Click on Accession Queries to go to:
http://www.ars-grin.gov/npgs/acc/acc_queries.html
- Use the Complex queries portion of this page
- In the field "Other type of identifier", type in: Arrest
- In the field "Common name", type in: Alfalfa
- At the bottom of the form check off the box by the line that says:
"Include historical and unavailable accessions in the search."
- Click Submit Request
- You get the Accession number and plant names.
- Click on it to find the PVP status.
- Click on the PVP area's Current Status
- It says Application pending.
