Historical Record

The records are included in the database to track collecting trips, parentage of current accessions, or intellectual property rights and registrations.

If you are looking up cultivar names for Patent or Trademark reasons, check the "Include historical records" box to make sure you see all of the records.

Not all of the historic Plant Inventory (PI) numbers are in the database but there is an on-going project to add these records as time and personnel allow.

If you include historical records in your search by selecting the checkbox they will be indicated with the -!! symbol.

Unavailable Accessions

For various reasons this is not always possible and a given accession may be unavailable at one point or another. Some examples of reasons why an accession may be considered unavailable are:

• Low quantity, accession is in regeneration cycle
• Low germination, accession is in regeneration cycle
• New clonal material just getting propagated
• Quarantine restriction awaiting clearance
• Intellectual property rights restriction (patent, mta etc.)
• Rare or endangered species
• Noxious weed

By default these unavailable accessions are screened from your searches in order to increase the chances of finding available material you are interested in. If you cannot find available material of interest, you can select the Include Historical and Unavailable checkbox to see if there are unavailable accessions that would meet your needs. You can then negotiate with the maintenance site to find out when this material will be available. Unavailable records will be indicated with the -** symbol.
