Leaves have small black spots coalescing to form brown or black
necrotic regions.
Leaf Spot or Anthracnose

Leaf spot or Anthracnose on black currant leaves
- Causal organism: Drepanopezizia ribis (Kleb.) Hohn.,
Europe, North America, New Zealand
- Crops affected: Black, red, white and ornamental currants, and
gooseberries
The main symptoms are a small circular or irregular spots on both
leaf surfaces. Spots are dark brown and coalesce when numerous.
Leaves can become yellow and brown and drop prematurely.
