Taxon: Euphorbia antisyphilitica Zucc.

Genus: Euphorbia
Family: Euphorbiaceae subfamily: Euphorbioideae tribe: Euphorbieae subtribe: Euphorbiinae
Nomen number: 16345
Place of publication: Flora 15(2, Beibl.):58. late 1832 (Abh. Math.-Phys. Cl. Königl. Bayer. Akad. Wiss. 1:292. late Dec 1832 ("1829/30") "antisiphylitica")
Comment: although Zuccarini used the spelling "antisiphylitica" in the Abhandlungen article, this spelling has commonly been corrected to "antisyphilitica" because the disease referenced is spelled "syphilis" not "siphylis"; the latter was the spelling he adopted in the Flora article, which is thought to be an earlier publication of the name, so no correction is necessary (K. Gandhi, pers. comm. via e-mail on 31 Dec 2013)
