Citrus Tristeza (CTV) has long plagued the U.S. Citrus Industry causing continual losses of sweet orange and grapefruit planted on sour orange rootstocks. However, the introduction of the brown citrus aphid has caused an acceleration of disease and associated losses. In addition, exotic isolates of CTV, including those that induce stem-pitting, if introduced into US citrus, would cause losses on many scion and rootstock combinations.
