Alternatives to Methyl Bromide for Vegetable Production

Nancy Kokalis-Burelle, Ph.D.
Ecologist

Research

Our lab seeks biological and chemical controls of soil-borne pathogens of vegetables, currently controlled by methyl bromide, a chemical that is being completely phased out of production and use in the United States by the year 2005. We primarily work with nematodes, bacteria, and fungal pathogens of tomato, strawberry, and pepper.
