Current Research Projects

The objectives of Dr. Albano's research are to develop improved methods and technologies in plant nutrition and water relations that will maintain the value of water as a natural resource. This includes the following: 1) the remediation/purification of reclaimed water for use in irrigation or for offsite discharge; 2) to reduce and/or control onsite and offsite runoff of agricultural chemicals and nutrients; 3) to improve water use efficiency and the efficiency of drainage and catchment systems; and 4) to maximize the use of saline water. Obtaining the objectives of the program will minimize point-source pollution from agricultural operations, increase water conservation, and improve the efficiency and economic viability of agricultural operations in Florida and other similar environments.
